A POPULAR man from a Flintshire village was found hanging at his home.

Michael Jones, 45, of High Street, Bagillt was found dead at about 4pm last Friday.
Tributes have been paid to Mr Jones, known as Mike to friends.

Bagillt East councillor Norma Jones said: “He was a gentleman. I always saw him walking his dog and he would say hello.

"He was well-known in the community. My thoughts go out to his friends and family.”

Bagillt West councillor Mike Reece added: “I was on holiday and my son called to tell me that Mike had died. He was a regular in the Feathers and Blossoms pubs.

"He was well-respected within the community and kept himself to himself.”

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: “Police attended an address in Bagillt on March 26 at 4.03pm, where a man was found hanging.”

Mr Jones, son of Flossie and the late Gwynfryn Jones, used to live on Cornist Lane in Flint.

An inquest has been opened by coroner for North East Wales John Hughes and adjourned to a later date, pending further enquiries.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 4.01pm on Friday, March 26 to an incident at an address on High Street, Bagillt.

"An ambulance and rapid response vehicle attended. A male was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Mr Jones’s funeral will be held at St Mary’s Parish Church in Flint on Tuesday, April 6 at 11am followed by a burial at Flint cemetery.

Donations will go towards the Air Ambulance.
