A DISTRICT judge has slammed a ‘mean offence’ of a woman stealing items of clothing from a launderette.
Elisha Jones, of Russell Grove, Wrexham, was seen on CCTV putting items of clothing which did not belong to her in a binbag at the launderette on Victoria Road, Brynteg.
Justin Espie, prosecuting, told Wrexham Magistrates Court: “It was 11am on Tuesday, February 9, and the victim put items in the dryer.
“Her drying had been taken out of the machine and items were missing.
“The defendant was seen on CCTV placing items into a black binbag.”
Mr Espie said three items belonging to Julie Beech amounted to £28.
Jones, 23, admitted a charge of theft.
District Judge Gwyn Jones fined Jones £100, told her to pay court costs of £85, a victim surcharge of £15 and compensation of £28.
He said: “This was a mean offence that you have stolen items from someone who has put items in a launderette.”
