HEARTFELT tributes have been paid to an Airbus worker from Flintshire who was killed in a horrific road accident.

Stuart Davies, 45, of Mold, who was driving a Mercedes car, died in the three-vehicle crash on the A483 near Chirk last Monday evening.

Lorry driver William Thomas Hefin Jones, 43, from Cardigan, also died in the collision.

Stuart Davies’ brother Patrick paid tribute to a “much loved son, brother and father”.

He said: “He was a very warm and witty person who loved his music, tropical fish and Wrexham FC.

“Stuart was always buying albums and we spent many a happy hour talking about music and listening to our favourite bands. He was just a big softie really and he hated injustice or unfairness of any kind.”

Patrick said the family were struggling to come to terms with Stuart’s death.

He said: “I find it very difficult to believe he’s gone.

“The whole family and all his friends are devastated.”

Stuart’s wife Rosemarie, known affectionately as Roe, died of cancer 10 months ago, leaving her husband to care for their son 11-year-old son, Dylan.

Patrick said: “Stuart bore her illness with great courage and dignity.”

Parents Mike and Mary Davies, of Bryn Awelon, Mold, thanked everyone who had supported the family since the tragedy.

Mold councillor Haydn Bateman paid tribute to Stuart, who had worked at Airbus plant in Broughton for more than 10 years.

“It’s a terrible shame,” he said.

“His poor son who has now been left without a mother and a father. My thoughts go out to his family and friends.”

Inquests into the deaths of both men have been opened by Mid and North Shropshire coroner John Ellery.
Mr Davies’ funeral will take place on Thursday at Pentrebychan crematorium, Wrexham, at 9.30am.
