A LITTLE girl who had life-threatening heart surgery just a week ago proved a lucky mascot for Wrexham Football Club.

Daisy Pritchard, aged three, has been described by her mum Eileen as “unbelievable” after bouncing back from major surgery so quickly.

Just five days after the operation to repair a hole in her heart at Great Ormand Street Hospital in London, Daisy and her 11-year-old sister Morgan led Wrexham FC onto a 3-0 home victory over Cambridgeshire side Histon in the Blue Square Premier League – their first win in eight games

Eileen, of Penycae, said: “On Monday we didn’t think she was going to survive but by Tuesday morning she was full of it.

“Now she is full of energy and she is a different child.”

The only concern was when Daisy had a serious allergic reaction to paracetamol but staff stepped in quickly to control the problem.

Eileen said: “It’s been a pretty stressful time because we have known since August, 2008 that Daisy needed this operation.

“Now she says she feels much better and everybody has been commenting that she is a much better colour and how healthy she is.”

Eileen was orginally in contact with Wrexham FC coach Lee Jones who organised for Daisy to visit The Racecourse to receive a signed football shirt.

The youngster has also been photographed with all the team and had a VIP tour of the ground and changing rooms.

“It was a wonderful day and Wrexham won 3-0 so we think Daisy brought good luck,” added Eileen.

“A big thanks go to the football club, and particularly to Lee Jones for organising it.”
