A 50-year-old man has been found dead.

Czech-born Daniel Dunda, 50, was found hanged at his home in Pen-y-Ball, Holywell, on Sunday evening.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and North East Wales coroner John Hughes opened an inquest yesterday.

Mr Dunda is believed to have lived in the area for the past four years and spent a lot of time travelling in Greece. He leaves behind a partner, Sandy.

He was one of 10 people to lose their jobs last week at Tiger Tim Products in Rhosesmor as part of the firelighter manufacturer’s seasonal redundancies programme

He had worked at Tiger Tim on and off for the past two years.

Mr Dunda was originally taken on as an agency worker before being given a permanent position as a packing operative.

Tiger Tim Products health environment and quality manager Ken Grant said: “We are sincerely sorry about what’s happened and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

“We valued him as an employee and as a person and he will be sadly missed.”

His immediate manager, Paul Edwards, said: “Daniel was a very private guy, but he really looked after himself and loved going to the gym.

“We gave him a job doing landscaping, which he loved because he was a very keen gardener.

“He struggled a bit with the language barrier, but he got on well with the people on his line and he seemed to enjoy his time here.

“He was a very good, conscientious worker and he was very proud of his job.”
