A WOMAN's snap of a picturesque winter scene at a stately home in Llangollen captured a mysterious, ghostly image.

After a heavy fall of snow earlier this year Kathy Davies was out walking her dog in the grounds of Plas Newydd, the stately home of the famous Ladies of Llangollen.

She stopped to take a picture of the old house enveloped in snow and was so impressed with the result that she made it the desktop image on her home computer.

It is only after studying it more closely over the past few weeks that she has spotted what she believes is the ghostly figure of a monk in the doorway.

Kathy, of Llangollen, said: “If you look closely at the picture I took you can make out the figure.

“From the shape it looks like it is dressed in the robes of a monk.

“I thought I would send it in to the Leader to see what other readers think.”

Last month the Leader highlighted claims by members of a paranormal group that Plas Newydd was the scariest place they had ever visited.

A team from Wrexham-based Spirit Quest revealed details of their spine-chilling experience when they carried out an overnight investigation there in 2008.

Group director Howard Hughes said: “I have to admit that of all the places we have visited it has to be the most frightening, which is a word I do not use lightly.”
