A WOMAN was seriously hurt in a crash on the M56 near Chester this morning.
Emergency services were called to the two -vehicle crash, which happened at about 6.35am, on the eastbound carriageway near the Hapsford junction.
The cars involved were a black Ford KA and a grey BMW. The female driver of the KA was taken to the Countess of Chester hospital with serious injuries. The other driver suffered minor injuries.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said there are road closures on the eastbound carriageway and diversions are in place.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
