A WOMAN has been fined after she switched a price ticket on a supermarket chicken in order to save 80p.
Carol Richards, 43, of Trevenna Way, Wrexham, went to Asda on Holt Road on February 24, Wrexham magistrates heard.
Justin Espie, prosecuting, said Richards moved the sticker from another item and put it on a chicken to save 80p.
Richards admitted a charge of theft of chicken valued at £2.
Rod Williams, defending, said: “She foolishly decided to move a sticker from one item to another.
“It’s a very small offence of theft.”
He added: “There is a long standing history of drug abuse and she has been on methadone for 24 years.”
Magistrates fined Richards £35, ordered her to pay a £15 victim surcharge and £40 costs.
