A WOMAN has appeared at Wrexham Magistrates’ Court accused of stealing the identity of a person who died as a baby.
Georgina Sharon Murphy, of Pen y Waun, Chirk, is charged with nine offences, eight of which claim she used the name of Gail Jones, who was born and died in 1957.
The charges, relating to times between 2006 and 2009, include possessing a passport in the name of Gail Jones and falsifying a National Insurance number application in the same name.
Murphy, 52, also faces charges of attempting to gain Jobseeker’s Allowance in the name of Gail Jones and failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions about her care and mobility needs.
Four charges relate to falsifying a document for housing benefit and council tax by using the name of Gail Jones to Denbighshire County Council.
The final charge is falsifying a document for housing benefit and council tax from the former Oswestry Council, now Shropshire Council, by pretending to be Georgine Lara.
Murphy made no pleas and the case was committed to Mold Crown Court on April 9.
