A WREXHAM mum is fighting back after a brain tumour threatened to claim her life.

Jan Whilding of Cefn Road, Wrexham, has been fighting the tumour for a number of years, but her condition took a significant turn for the worse around Christmas time.

Now, with the help of family and friends, she is improving and she has paid a touching tribute to those who have helped her through.

Jan, 51, a personal assistant who has been unable to work due to the debilitating effects of the tumour, said: “Things got really bad when I woke up one morning feeling very confused and flustered.

“I couldn’t do simple tasks like tell the time or use cutlery for meals.” Married to Alva, Jan has three children – Claire, 32, Karl, 30 and Ellie, 10.

She added: “I was placed on steroids and that has helped.

“There has been an improvement, but I am still weak down my left-hand side and balance and co-ordination can be difficult for me.

“I am on a course of chemotherapy.

“That is quite tiring and can knock me for six.

“I get so much support from family, friends, my husband and carer. I would like to thank them very much.

“Alva is my rock, I don’t know what I would do without him.

“I would also like to thank my employers Moneypenny.

“They have been fabulous and very caring.

“They are holding my job open and I love working for them.”

Scans have shown that the tumour is malignant and becoming increasingly aggressive.

Jan has been told that an operation is not possible because surgeons would not be able to access the tumour.
