A MAN who was jailed seven times last year has been banned from entering Wrexham stores for three months.
Carl Neville Williams, of Pen-y-Wern, Rhos, admitted stealing a cordless phone from Tesco in Wrexham on January 23 at the town’s magistrates’ court .
Matthew Ellis, prosecuting, said Williams, 39, selected the phone and concealed it in his coat.
He walked out without paying and was detained by security outside. Mr Ellis said: “He said it was to raise funds for heroin.”
The court heard Williams received seven custodial sentences last year and has 47 convictions for 104 offences, 71 of which related to thefts.
Euros Jones, defending, said the probation service was no longer willing to work with him because he did not keep appointments.
Mr Jones said: “He has medical difficulties following an attack years ago, his memory is terrible and he is registered disabled.
“He also has a heroin addiction and alcohol addiction.”
Mr Jones added: “It is a very difficult job for me to put forward a sentence package because understandably, the probation service will not work with him.”
Magistrates issued Williams with a three-month community order with an exclusion order not to enter retail premises for three months, except for Rowlands pharmacy on Chapel Street, Wrexham and the post office.
