A BUSINESSMAN hit by the big freeze is selling snow on an auction website.

Ian Owen says it’s snow joke because he has so much of the white stuff available.

Up to now there have been several bids, with the highest at £31.

Ian and Jim Gaffney run the One Planet mountain biking centre at Coed Llandegla, which is 11,000 feet up on the moors and has been snowbound and unable to open since December 20.

The Leader has been charting their progress as they have made a couple of unsuccessful attempts to bulldoze tons of snow and ice from the car park.

In one of their many idle moments waiting for the weather to warm up, they decided to have a bit of fun by offering their abundance of snow for sale on ebay.

Ian said: “We’ve got it on for the standard seven-day period, which ends on Wednesday.

“We have a machine up here still trying to clear the car park, so we can cut up the snow into manageable chunks for anybody who wants it.

“We put it on with a reserve price of 99p and we’ve had a few bids so far which are mainly from our supporters.

“Money from the highest bid we receive by the time the auction closes will go the Alzheimer’s Society.

“Last year, Jim and I raised £5,000 for the same charity by riding around every mountain bike trail in the UK.”

Ian said a thaw has been slow to come to Coed Llandegla, where temperatures fell as low as minus 20 at the height of the big freeze.
