POLICE carried out a series of raids at properties in Wrexham, uncovering class A drugs and stolen goods.

PC Miles Hanmer said warrants had been executed at a number of locations in the town yesterday including Hightown and Caia Park for investigations involving the misuse of drugs and handling stolen goods.

Officers are planning to turn up at further addresses in the town today.

PC Hanmer stressed there will be no let up in the police’s enforcement. In the coming months further warrant executions lasting two days and possibly three will go ahead.

He said: “At the first address we visited today we found a quantity of heroin. In the second there were what we believe to be stolen bikes as well as a quantity of class A and class B drugs.”

He said officers were pleased with the outcome of Thursday’s investigations, describing it as having a ‘100 per cent success rate’.

“Each one has proved to have been a positive warrant and very worthwhile in undertaking.”

PC Hanmer said information to help with planning the operation has been coming in from a number of sources including the intelligence unit and from Crimestoppers.

He stressed the important role the public played in helping police tackle criminals.

“Something like 60 per cent of the information has come from the intelligence unit and 40 per cent from the public. Ordinary men and women play a major part in assisting us with our work,” he added.

“People throughout the community do not want to be living with crime. It is quite clear, crime does not pay.”
