A WREXHAM man who died following a row at a petrol station forecourt has been named.

John Valentine Mitchell, 62, died on Friday night following an alleged argument over queue jumping at the Asda petrol station in Holt Road.

Mr Mitchell, who is from the Pentre Maelor area of the town, was taken to the Wrexham Maelor Hopital, but was later pronounced dead.

A spokesman from North Wales Ambulance service said they were unable to comment on the cause of death and a post mortem would have to be carried out.

North Wales Police suspect the victim had an argument with another man over an allegation of queue jumping.

A police spokesman said: “North Wales Police are investigating allegations that the deceased was verbally abused by a 43-year-old Wrexham man prior to his collapsing.

"This seems to have been over a perception of queue jumping at the petrol station.”

A 43-year-old man was arrested for public order offences and interviewed by detectives at Wrexham Police Station.

He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses. If you have any information call Wrexham CID on 0845 607 1001 or 0845 607 1002 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
