A FLINTSHIRE woman has been killed in a crash on a treacherous island road.
Patricia Angela O'Sullivan, 71, a retired schoolteacher of Bryn Awelon, Buckley is believed to have been visiting relatives in Shetland and was travelling to the airport when the car she was travelling in as a passenger skidded off the road.
The vehicle left the B9071 Bixter-Voe road between Parkhall and Skeld at around 10.45am on Wednesday.
The driver and another passenger, both men, were airlifted to the Gilbert Bain Hospital at Lerwick with injuries which were not believed to have been life-threatening.
Northern Constabulary Inspector Ross MacKillop said he could not comment on the cause of the accident until specialists had examined the scene.
