VANDALS who pulled up a metal gate at a skate park caused £1,000 worth of damage.

The culprits tore the gate from its hinges and left it lying on the ground at the children’s play area and skate park in Sandy Lane, Sealand.

Blasting the vandals, Sealand councillor Chris Jones told the Leader: “This is just mindless vandalism and I don’t even know how they have done it.

“It must have taken some effort because it’s a really heavy metal gate. I think they could have used a rope to wrench it open.”

The gate was installed to keep out dogs and motorbikes when the skate park was built 10 years ago.

Cllr Jones added: “This is the first piece of bad vandalism we have had there and now we have been lumbered with this £1,000 bill which we can ill afford.

“The gates have been left wide open so people can get on there with motorbikes.”

The incident happened overnight on Saturday, March 27, and the damage was discovered by a member of the public the following morning.

Cllr Jones said: “A lady living in Cedar Close said she heard a heck of a racket that night.”

Anyone with information about the incident should call North Wales Police on the non-emergency 101 number.
