FAME is knocking for a Flintshire beauty queen who has secured her place in a national competition.

Lauren Eve Rowley from Connah’s Quay, who was crowned Miss Flintshire 2010 in November, has finally found sponsorship for her place in the Miss Wales competition after a four-month search.

The 21-year-old who is studying primary education at the University of Bangor has thanked Mold-based firm P&W Maintenance Contracting, who offered her the £500 sponsorship fee.

She said: “My brother Scott works for the council and had been spreading the word that I needed a sponsor.

“They sent me an email saying they would love to sponsor me. It was so exciting to know I was definitely in the final.

“It’s real now and I can look forward to it.”

Lauren has lots of preparations to make before the competition on June 26.

She added: “We have an interview with a celebrity and then there are three rounds of dressing up which are casual, party and formal.

“I will have to start looking for my dresses soon!”

Lauren will be joined in the competition by Flintshire runners-up Claire Davies, a 19-year-old holistic therapist from Nannerch and Leah-Faye Bennett, 18, a deputy shop manager from Connah’s Quay.

Members of the public can vote for their favourite contestant in the run-up the competition and the girl with the most votes will be awarded an extra 20 points to their final score.
