WREXHAM FC fans last night gave a guarded welcome to the club’s new chairman and commercial director.
Dozens of Wrexham Supporters Trust members gathered at the Wrexham Lager Social Club to witness a presentation by newly-appointed chairman Ian Roberts and former Crusaders chief executive Mike Turner, who was recently made commercial director at the Racecourse.
The pair urged fans to get behind the club and said with their support, it could become ‘the best thing since sliced bread’.
Mr Turner also spoke of his plans to turn the Racecourse into a “world class” venue, capable of hosting concerts as well as sporting events.
“There has never been a better time to be part of Wrexham FC.
“We want to make the Racecourse a venue for people to be proud of, but we cannot do it without your help,” he said.
Mr Turner and Mr Roberts also pressed trust members to come to them with ideas to improve Wrexham FC.
Mr Turner said: “We can’t just sit in an ivory tower and make all the decisions ourselves.
“We need your input and we are keen to hear your ideas.”
Fans, joined by players Mark Jones and Silvio Spann, were then invited to quiz Mr Roberts in a question and answer session.
