MOVING tributes have been paid to a trainee nurse from Wrexham who died suddenly at the age of just 31.

Shocked friends of trainee nurse Sarah Ann Lee say she was a “genuine, lovely girl” who was a devoted mother to her daughter Caitlin.

Sarah, of Bryn Offa, off Ruthin Road, Wrexham, was in her second year of training to be a nurse at the Wrexham Maelor hospital through the University of Bangor.

She died suddenly on Tuesday, February 16. Her funeral will be held on Friday at All Saints Church on Poyser Street at 12.30pm.

Dr Malcolm Godwin, deputy head of school and director of pre-registration nursing for the university, said: “Sarah was a very caring, committed and motivated student.

“She will be much missed by colleagues and students at the School of Healthcare Science and her death will be a loss to the nursing profession.

“Our thoughts and sympathy are with her family at this difficult time.”

A group has been set up on Facebook called “RIP Sarah Lee – Taken too soon.”

Friends expressed their shock at the sudden death and paid tribute to Sarah.

Among the tributes Mel Davies wrote: “Sweet dreams dearest Sarah, such a tragedy Caitlin won’t see her mummy as she grows into a beautiful young lady. My heart breaks for the two of you.

“Caitlin, you are the daughter of the brightest star in the sky xxxxx”

Rob Howard wrote: “I worked with her three years ago in Brantano.

“She trained me when I first started and I thought she was a really lovely, bubbly person and can’t really believe she’s gone.”

Her partner Mike was too upset to speak when contacted by the Leader at the family home yesterday.

An inquest was opened and adjourned by North East Wales coroner John Hughes on Thursday, February 18 and a full inquest will be heard at a future date.
