THREE more areas of green land in Wrexham are to be protected as part of a Wales-wide scheme.

Special plaques will be unveiled tomorrow to mark the protection of spaces in Bangor-on-Dee, Crispin Lane, Rhosddu and Minera.

The three sites join six others that have already been protected as part of the Owain Glyndwr Fields in Trust project.

Youngsters from local schools will plant daffodils at the three sites:

Abbots Way recreation ground, Bangor-on-Dee;Ashfield playing field, Crispin Lane;Minera recreation ground, Church Road, Minera.

Cllr David Bithell, Wrexham Council’s lead member for environment and transport, said he was delighted three new areas of public open space were being protected.

“Areas of green open space are important to local people and the protection of playing fields and recreational grounds will have benefits for future generations to enjoy.”

Richard Gale, committee member of Fields in Trust Cymru, said “These dedications will help to ensure that Wrexham will always have a network of outdoor spaces where children and adults alike can go for healthy physical activity.”
