THE girlfriend of a young Wrexham man who died in a high speed road accident is expecting the baby he will never see.

Next month Aaron Griffiths-Mahoney would have become a father, but he died in a horrific crash in July.

Aaron’s mum Julie Griffiths paid an emotional tribute to her eldest son following an inquest held earlier this month during which North East Wales Coroner John Hughes described it as a ‘tragic waste of a young life.’

Aaron’s girlfriend Ceri Wareham is due to give birth to their baby next month.

Julie said: “The saddest part is knowing that our life is carrying on and Aaron isn’t part of it.

“He’s got a little sister who will never know him and a daughter due in February who will never get to meet her daddy.

“But as his family we will make sure she knows about him and support Ceri.”

Aaron, 20, who lived with his younger brother Scott on Long Lane, Brynteg, was killed when his car hit the steps of the Christadelphian Hall in Rhosrobin on the evening of July 19.

His friend Brvon Williams, 22, a passenger in the car, survived the crash but Aaron was later pronounced dead at Wrexham Maelor hospital.

He missed the birth of baby sister Grace by three days.

At the inquest Mr Hughes recorded a verdict of accidental death and said the injuries sustained by Aaron were ‘totally unsurvivable.’

Speaking about the accident, Julie said: “Our only saviour is knowing Aaron didn’t suffer and died instantly.

“Aaron’s grandma bought him his car because I used to pick him up and take him to and from work every day but I was pregnant and soon wouldn’t be able to do that.

“We know due to evidence that Aaron was going too fast and was too inexperienced for the speed because he’d only had the car two weeks.

“He passed his driving test first time in May.”

Aaron was a trainee joiner at Quadraco Components on Wrexham Industrial Estate and worked there with his grandad and uncle.

He also left behind younger brothers Scott, 17, Kieron, 13, and Ieuan, nine,   and stepfather Robert Mark Jones.

Julie said: “I miss him deeply. I was very proud to be his mum. It has been the hardest time ever to go through losing my eldest son and having my daughter which meant coping with grief and happiness together and trying to keep normality going for the sake of the other boys.

“My partner Robert has been amazing in supporting me and the children, and I couldn’t have got through this difficult time without the support and love of my parents Jeff and Jen Griffiths and our family and closest friends, and Ceri and her family. I thank them all immensely.

“Being Aaron’s mum was very eventful.

“He was always up to something in his cheeky way.

“He was very full of life and had many good friends, Gemma, Gav and Joey being his closest.

“He’s missed by so many people.”
