POLICE in Deeside have stormed eight houses in a major crackdown on drugs.

Teams of officers recovered drugs from seven of the eight properties across the district and arrested a man who was wanted in connection with a burglary.

The raids were carried out over a period of several hours yesterday after police received information from the public.

District inspector Mark Hughes said: “Nearly all the warrants we carried out were positive and all of the people concerned will be dealt with during the next few days.

“The operation will result in a number of charges in connection with drugs offences.

“We also managed to track down a wanted man, which was very pleasing.”

Insp Hughes said successful raids depend on the co-operation of the public and urged anyone with information about drug use in their area to contact the police.

He added: “We had quite a few calls from people afterwards, who told us they were really pleased with what we were doing.

“It’s always good to know people are happy, but we would not be able to carry out these operations without the public’s help.

“I would like to thank those who have provided us with help so far.

“Any member of the public who contacts us can be assured their information will be acted upon.”

Anyone with information should call the North Wales Police control room on 0845 607 1002.
