THOUSANDS of residents across Flintshire have been left waiting for important documents after postal deliveries were affected by the bad weather.

People living in parts of Connah’s Quay, including St David’s Drive, Glynne Street and Howard Street, did not receive any post for more than a week.

Cllr Bernie Attridge, who lives on Fron Road, finally got a delivery on Monday, but suspects he was one of the lucky ones.

He said: “I had tons of post arrive, it must have been a week’s worth, but my mum, who lives in Howard Street, hasn’t had any since last Tuesday. I suspect it’s because I live closer to the High Street.”

The Connah’s Quay councillor has been inundated with complaints from people who have not received their post.

He said: “There are people I know waiting for important post like payments and giros and I have missed a couple of meetings due to not having my post.”

St David’s Drive resident Helen Roberts said: “We have had no post since last Tuesday, but have had no explanation from Royal Mail.

"Other areas have had post. I understand the weather causing disruptions, but the Leader gets delivered daily with no problems.”

A Royal Mail spokesman said: “The extreme weather conditions across North Wales, and the rest of the UK, have been causing major difficulties for our staff, but we have been doing everything we can to keep the mail moving.

"Unfortunately poor road conditions have meant our vehicles have been unable to access some locations in the Flintshire area and consequently our services have been disrupted in these areas over the past week.

“At the beginning of this week we were able to reach the majority of addresses in many areas and we apologise to customers for the recent delays to delivery and collection services.”

Yesterday the Leader reported on similar problems in parts of Wrexham, which the Royal Mail said it was working to resolve.
