A family is standing together once again to support a centre in Saltney which cared for their father who suffered from Multiple Sclerosis.

Damian Marsden and his sister Tracey Jones lost their father, Eric Marsden, 16
years ago.

He had battled MS for six years and attended the Neuro Theraphy Centre in Saltney for various therapy and treatments.

His son Damian decided last year he wanted to do something to support and give back to the MS Society and Neuro Theropy Centre in Saltney, allowing others to benefit from the service given to his father.

Sixteen years ago treatment for MS was very limited and the Neuro Centre was a place Eric visited weekly to have Hyper-baric Oxygen Therapy – a well-known therapy where an increase in the percentage of oxygen in the blood stream has a tendency to speed up the natural process of
healing.

Eric was very grateful for the service provided to him by the centre.

By attending the centre it also allowed him to socialise with relatable individuals who also had MS.

After the success of last year where they raised a total of £800, the siblings have decided to run another charity football match on Saturday, July 29, at the White Bear in Mancot.

The main event will be a football match which will again see an All-Stars team go head to head with the White Bear side. Kick-off is at 11am.

The match will be followed with announcements of the raffle winners at the White Bear.

The biggest prize will be a 24 inch TV with a built-in DVD player, kindly donated by PB Fire and Security Ltd.

There will be other prizes such as vouchers for Nandos, tickets for Cineworld, a box of wine and much more.

A cash auction will also take place which will see signed photos of sports stars Jimmy White, Gordon Banks, Sir Geoff Hurst and many more on offer.

Damian said: “My father suffered with MS and the Neurotherapy centre in Saltney were so good at caring for him and for it, I want to give back from me, my sister and my father.

“My dad, Eric isn’t around himself to do so and I know it is what he would want.

“Thank you to all those who are contributing and a special thank you to Mike Waag who supplied cash auction prizes which are signed photos because they are out of his own collection.”

Tracey said: “After the success of last year with the football match and the raffle Damian and myself decided to do one more this year.

“He’s done a fantastic job getting raffle prizes and cash auctions for the day and organised the football
match.

“So I will be there helping and supporting Damian on the day in memory of our dad and we are hoping to raise a lot of money for this worthy cause very close to our
hearts.

“I would like to thank all the people and companies that have donated to the auction and raffle so far some fantastic prizes to be won on the day; the White Bear for letting us host it there; every player taking part in the football match and on behalf of myself, Ste, my partner, Liam and Morgan, my sons, we would like to say a huge
thank you to Damian for organising this in our dad’s memory.

“We are very proud of him and I know our dad would be very proud of him too.”
