POLICE have issued an appeal for information following a serious car accident near Wrexham.

Paramedics, firefighters and police officers all attended the scene of the two-vehicle RTC, which involved a silver Volkswagen Golf and a blue Vauxhall Corsa, on the A525 southbound towards Coedpoeth shortly before 1.30 this morning.

The road was closed while emergency crews dealt with the incident, with traffic being diverted towards Southsea, but was reopened shortly after 6am.

A spokesman for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said that two appliances from Wrexham were sent to the scene of the crash and used cutting gear to extricate three casualties from the crash.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service added that three ambulances and one rapid response car were sent to the scene and that three casualties were confirmed to have been conveyed to Wrexham Maelor hospital, with another two casualties suspected to have also been hospitalised.

North Wales Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident. 

On the NWP Control Room Twitter feed, a spokesman for the force tweeted: "At 01.25 a serious injury RTC occurred on A525 just outside Wrexham towards Coedpoeth involving a silver VW Golf and a blue Vauxhall Corsa. 

"Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the vehicles prior to the collision call 101 quoting ref U129243."
