The countdown is on for an event that will see women tackling a mud-spattered charity challenge.

The first ever Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life Pretty Muddy event at Chirk Castle will be held on Saturday, October 7.

With just around 12 weeks to go until the big day, women in North Wales are being urged to “get down and dirty” in the fight against cancer by signing up for the event.

Sarah Hunter, Cancer Research UK’s North West and North Wales area event manager, said:  “We’re so excited to bring Race for Life Pretty Muddy to Chirk for the very first time.

“We’re calling on local ladies to limber up and muck in to make it a huge success.

“We’ve no doubt that they’ve got the muddy motivation to take on the challenge and help beat cancer sooner. Pretty Muddy has all the fun and camaraderie of our much loved 5k and 10k events – but with added mud, thrills and spills.

“It’s the perfect challenge for those looking to commit to get more active.”

Pretty Muddy is a women-only, non-competitive 5k and 10k obstacle course – with an extra helping of mud.

Sarah Hunter added: “Race for Life events are not competitive and women can complete the Pretty Muddy course at their own pace, climbing, jumping, walking and laughing their way around.

“Whether they plan to wade their way through the mud or make a big splash, every muddy step mums, daughters, sisters and friends take will help to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.”

Entry closes at midnight on Thursday , October 5 and women can sign up at www.raceforlife.org.

Money raised will help Cancer Research UK scientists find new ways to treat cancer and save lives.
