A live music festival returns to Chester for a third year this weekend, with organisers promising it will be bigger and better than ever before.

Chester Live was first held in 2015 and it grew in popularity last year, attracting more than 2,000 music-lovers.

The city-wide, not-for-profit festival will see upwards of 100 acts play across 11 venues over four days, ending this Sunday (JUN 25).

“It’s going to be the biggest Chester Live festival we've ever held,” said organiser Dan Read, who was able to lure Irish punk legends the Undertones to Chester for last year's festival.

This year, the headline act is Welsh multi-instrumentalist Catherine Anne Davies, who goes by the name of The Anchoress. She will play The Live Rooms this evening (FRI, Jun 23).

Other events to look out for include a free street festival on Brook Street running from 12pm to 9pm on Sunday, headlined by local folk/pop act Campfire Social.

You will also be able to catch bands at Commonhall Social, the St Werburgh Centre, Telford's Warehouse, the Activity Hut in Grosvenor Park, The Commercial Hotel, The Golden Eagle, The Cornerhouse, The Piper and the Saddle Inn.
