A FUNDRAISER held in honour of a ‘miracle baby’ has been hailed a great success. Brymbo Cricket Club hosted a fun day inspired by Grant and Tracey Jones, of New Broughton whose two-month old daughter Caitlyn defied the odds to survive a premature birth. Previously told they were unable to conceive, the couple learned Tracey, 31, was pregnant in April. But there were complications and Caitlyn was born on September 12, weighing just one pound, 15 ounces. She had not been due until December 21. Money raised from Sunday’s fundraiser is to be split between the neo-natal unit at Arrowe Park Hospital, Wirral, and Ronald McDonald House, which provided respite for Grant and Tracey after Caitlyn was born. Unfortunately Caitlyn and her parents were unable to attend as she was not well on the day, but Grant said those who did go told them that it was “brilliant”.He said: “According to our friends it went absolutely fine. “Some of the outdoor things had to be cancelled because of the weather, like the football and the bouncy castle, but apart from that everyone said it was brilliant. “The event made more than £1,000 and there were between 150 to 200 people there. “There were various stalls for people to enjoy, and one of our friends had his hair shaved off on stage for donations. “Later on there was also a race night, a DJ, disco and karaoke, so there was something for everyone.” He added: “We want to thank Lindsey Waddell and everyone else who helped organise it, and all those who went – we appreciate the support.”
