PREPARATIONS are well under way for the 10th Connah’s Quay Festival.

Organisers are busy putting together arrangements for this year’s event, which will be held at Wepre Park on Sunday, June 29.

The festival will boast a variety of attractions, including live local bands, dance performances, football tournaments and archery as well as stalls, refreshments and information stands.

Connah’s Quay town centre manager, Lisa Fearn, said: “There’s going to be lots of bands performing on the day which will be fantastic.

“There will also be a parade from the civic square in Connah’s Quay to Wepre Park where the chairman of Flintshire Council will open the day.

“We’d really like local people to get involved and drum up a real carnival atmosphere.

“It’s a free community event for the public to enjoy and we’re hoping to create a really positive event.”

Ahead of the festival, the giants that had previously walked the streets of Chester during their own festivals will be making an appearance at the Asda store in Queensferry before they join in this year’s event in Connah’s Quay.

The massive structures will be visiting the store from Monday, June 2 up until June 28 prior to them leading the opening parade.

This year’s festival has also received the backing of Alyn and Deeside AM, Carl Sargeant.

He said: “This promises to be a great event which will hopefully draw crowds to Deeside and Wepre Park, one of our most popular beauty spots.

“The organisers are still hoping to get some more bands and acts on the bill and it’s a great opportunity to show off our local talent. “There will also be a variety of craft, food and entertainment stalls and I hope lots of people will turn out to show their support.”
