The man – in his late 20s and believed to be from the village – is thought to have had his leg broken after he was struck by the bus near the corner of Bangor Road and High Street in Johnstown.

A single-decker Arriva bus was involved in the crash, which happened close to the New Inn pub shortly before 4.30pm yesterday.

“He was in pain and he was getting gas and air from paramedics and they put him in the ambulance.

“It looked like he had broken his leg.

“The windscreen of the bus was smashed but he was lying at the back so I’m not sure if he was dragged by the bus.”
