A PRIMARY school has said goodbye to three members of staff, including their long-serving headteacher.

Head Margaret Baldwin and fellow staff Christine Taylor and Christine Shallcross all enjoyed a leavers service at Queensferry Primary School, before bidding farewell to pupils.

Mrs Baldwin is retiring after 27 years at the school. She  has served as headteacher since 2009.

Teacher Mrs Taylor leaves the school after 15 years to spend more time with her family while Miss Shallcross leaves the school after a year as a foundation teaching assistant to embark on a teacher training course in Wakefield.

The three members of staff celebrated their final day at the school with a leaving service shared with Year Six pupils before enjoying an afternoon tea with past and present members of staff.

Mrs Baldwin said she had “mixed emotions” about leaving a school she has taught at for nearly three decades.

She said: “It is very sad to leave having been at the same school for as long as I have.

“I will miss all the children and I will miss the support and helpfulness of all our parents and governors.”

Cathryn Lloyd, Mrs Baldwin’s deputy for the past four years, will take over as headteacher in September.

Mrs Baldwin added:  “I felt this was a good decision for the continuity of the school.
“Cathryn is the right person to lead the school forward and I’m sure she will be an excellent head.

“Mrs Taylor has been a great colleague and Miss Shallcross will no doubt become a brilliant teacher because she has been fantastic with the children in her year at Queensferry.”
