TICKETS for Shrewsbury Folk Festival 2012 will go on sale on December 1.

Demand is expected to be high for the four-day event in August after tickets for this year’s festival sold out in record time – more than three months before the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Fans will also be able to find out who will be topping the bill when headline acts are revealed in December.

Visitors can enjoy five music venues, a dance tent, workshops, a children’s festival, a craft fair and food village and youth programme Refolkus at the County Showground.

Camping is all on-site giving festival-goers easy access to all venues and activities.

Festival director Alan Surtees said: “We are really excited about the 2012 festival following this year’s very successful event.

“We think another early sell out is likely as we have more and more people making Shrewsbury a regular feature of their summer.

“We know hundreds of people were disappointed this year because they didn’t expect tickets to go as fast as they did.

“It is best to make sure you’re not disappointed by buying early.”

Each year the festival raises money for Hope House Hospice to fund music therapy work for children with life-limiting illnesses.

Over the past four years, donations from festival-goers and £1 from every adult ticket sold has helped to raise over £20,000.

The early bird offer on tickets lasts until March 31 with ticket prices going up on April 1.
