SHREWSBURY Flower Show is one of the biggest showcases on the horticultural calendar.

The event marks the 124th instalment of what is recognised as Britain’s best and longest running flower show.

Tomorrow (Fri) and Saturday, thousands of people are expected to descend on the town to experience a symphony of stunning floral displays and much more.

Although the show highlights the best in garden design and planting with the brightest new ideas and the latest trends, there’s so much more to the show than flowers and plants.

There’s plenty of activities, arts and crafts to be enjoyed as well as a culinary treat in the form of charismatic celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo, who will be appearing in the Marches Foodhall on both days.

Gino will charm the crowds with the latest Italian recipes.

Winner of ITV’s ‘I’m a Celebrity...’ and a regular on This Morning, Gino’s vibrant personality will no doubt be in evidence as he presents three demonstrations each day.

There will also be an array of delicious delicacies on offer on the many trade stands displaying the the finest local produce.

National and International showjumpers will be competing in a series of top class competitions in the main arena while jousting displays by The Knights of the Damned will bring to life a bygone era of chivalry and tradition.

Don’t miss the thrilling exploits of the Royal Artillery Motorcycle Display team and the music of the renowned band 1066 Pipes and Drums, rounded off each day by a spectacular firework finale.

And, of course, there will be plenty of gardening related activities and demonstrations.

TV personality Chris Beardshaw returns to the show for the seventh consecutive year to offer some valuable hints and tips.

The humble vegetable will take a starring role alongside the three million or so beautiful blooms that have become synonymous with the show as Chris provides insight into successful vegetable garden management.

So, whether your issue is how to make your marrows magnificent or how to produce the perkiest parsnips, Chris will have the answer.
