DROP-IN sessions for families and residents are being held at a Shrewsbury care home to discuss its future.

Crowmoor House is run by Shropshire Council but is to be transferred to another provider with the aim of securing investment and improving facilities.

All current staff will be kept on as part of the transfer.

The next drop-in session is scheduled for September 21 from 2pm to 5pm at Crowmoor House.

Shropshire Council Cabinet member, Councillor Simon Jones, said: “Our main priority is the care and wellbeing of the residents at Crowmoor, and we want to reassure them that the transfer will be as smooth as possible.

“The whole idea behind this is to improve facilities at Crowmoor and secure its long-term future. I hope residents and their families can come along to the drop-in sessions and have a chat about any concerns they may have, as it’s important we keep people informed as we go along.”

The process started earlier this year with “soft market testing” to establish which organisations were interested in taking on the running of Crowmoor House, and now those organisations have until September 19 to make formal bids.

The council will consider the bids made by potential providers once they are submitted by mid-September, and a decision is likely in the new year.

The new provider is then likely to take on the home during the summer of 2012.
