DIAMONDS are a girl’s best friend for Jodie Davies.

And by night the jewellery shop worker continues to give sparkling performances as a singer in her native Shrewsbury.

The 21-year-old, from Greenfields, is gaining a growing reputation with her solo show which has been entertaining audiences on the pub and club circuit for a year.
She told Shrewsbury Living: “People don't expect me to be as good as I am. As soon as I get up there and I am blasting a song out people go ‘wow’. It’s a powerful voice.”

Jodie, who works as an assistant manager at Pandora at Darwin Shopping Centre, started singing at the age of four.

The former Wakeman School pupil takes inspiration from Adele, Jessie J and Whitney Houston.

On performing on stage, Jodie said: “It's such an amazing feeling. It's a buzz going through the whole of my body. I feel completely different – like a different person. Like a burst of confidence.”

Jodie, who is encouraged at gigs by mum Mary and older sisters Debbie, Heidi and Sadie and by her colleagues at Pandora, says she would relish the chance of becoming a full-time performer.

Nicholas Pitt, centre director of Darwin, Pride Hill and Riverside Shopping Centres, added: “It’s amazing the talent that there is in Shrewsbury. Jodie is clearly a girl who is going places. I know her colleagues at Pandora have been to see her a few times – perhaps she could add Diamonds Are Forever and Band of Gold to her repertoire.”
