A NEW hotel will welcome its first guests next month.

The Silverton hotel will be opened in Frankwell by owner Doug Blackmore – yards away from his current tapas and cocktail bar, Frank.

He decided to take on the old dairy site in Frankwell three years ago.

He said: “I could see the potential in the site as a wonderful boutique hotel and so approached the landlord with a view to taking it on.

“The old dairy offers so much history – it’s a real landmark in Frankwell – and is extremely spacious.

“The emphasis is very much on quality and there is a strong Shropshire theme running through everything we are doing at The Silverton.”

Its seven bedrooms are named after Shropshire hills and come with en suite bathrooms.

There is valet parking for hotel guests and as much of the food as possible is sourced in Shropshire.

Mr Blackmore added: “While overnight guests might come from further afield I see the bar and restaurant as an attraction for the people of Frankwell and Shrewsbury.”

The hotel is due to open for food on Friday though bedrooms are expected to be ready for the first guests at the beginning of August.
