MEMBERS of the Rotary Club of Shawbury and Mid Shropshire have taken on extra duties.
Rotarian Mike Jones has become a member of the district international services and Rotary Foundation Committee while rotarian Philip Gillings has been elected to the district committee for youth called New Challenge.
Both men were congratulated by president Iain Gilmour on his handover of office to vice president Willie Strachan.
The outgoing president welcomed three new members and paid tribute to the work of Alex Reid who he nominated as Rotarian of the Year.
Iain said: “During the year we have raised a lot of money and helped a lot of good causes. The most pounds per minute, for the Rotary Tree of Light, were made at Greenhous Meadow.”
He said the club raised £550 in two hours at the football ground where he hoped they would be allowed back later this year.
