SHREWSBURY Town have announced a pre-season fixture with football titans Manchester United on July 17.
A United XI will visit Greenhous Meadow as part of the Shrews’ preparations for another assault on promotion from the Npower League Two.
The club narrowly missed out last season with semi-final play-off heartache against Torquay.
Alex Ferguson’s Premier League champions are just one of a mouth-watering set of pre-season games Graham Turner’s men have lined up.
Wolverhampton Wanderers also visit the home of the Shrews, who also anticipate the visit of League One side Tranmere Rovers.
Before that, however, the Shrews have a competitive match to test their resolve before the season starts on August 6.
They will travel to Oswestry to face The New Saints in the Shropshire Senior Cup on Monday, July 11, at 7.45pm.
The New Saints have been invited to play a permanent part in the competition along with Market Drayton, who face Telford United in the other semi-final.
TNS will provide stiff opposition for the Shrews as they mount a Europa League campaign by virtue of their second place Welsh Premier League finish.
