A VINTAGE flea market will make its return to Shrewsbury today.

The three-day event at Market Hall proved so popular in May that organisers have set up a second event in time for the festival season.

Already confirmed are vintage gardenware and herbs specialist Heather Brae, Birmingham vintage clothing store Top Banana, ladies vintage clothing providers Marie Black and Jo Richards, Lulu Flowers and Interiors.

There will be live music from the Dan Owen Blues Band, Jason Boyd, Tommy and Kristi and Charlotte Lawes plus vintage makeovers by Skulduggery Hair.

Compost Kids will invite children to make a bird to hang in the Bird’s Nest and the winner will bag themselves a private art lesson and a giant canvas to take home.

The markets are the brainchild of Sam Pooley of ilovecompost.com and Bird’s Nest café co-owners Victor Deng and Aaron Brown.

Aaron said: “The Bird's Nest flea market is about bringing people from all walks of life together, to rub shoulders and experience a real good vibe in the market.

“You can pick up a bargain and enjoy the creative, artistic and family-friendly atmosphere.

“To us a market can be something which brings people together, something the big multi-nationals have taken away.

“Let’s stay local. Hope to see you there."

Organiser Sam said the first vintage flea market had exceeded all expectations with more than 1,800 people attending the event.

She said: “The Market Hall was consistently busy over all three days, with a knockout Saturday.

“It was wonderful to see so many people supporting us, 1,876 people came to the first event and 200 of those were on the Thursday. “With festival season here the  vintage flea market is the perfect place to get kitted out as we have found the best line up of vintage sellers in Shropshire.”

Kate Gittins, site facilities manager at the Market Hall, added: “We are delighted to be welcoming the vintage flea market for a second time.

“The first event proved to be extremely popular with customers and traders and the atmosphere was electric.”

The flea market will run from today until Saturday, July 2.
