A COLLEGE sports hall has re-opened folowing a £240,000 refurbishment.

The project, at the Walford campus of Walford and North Shropshire College,
has included a full refit of the changing areas, staff facilities, storage areas and
main hall.

Andrew Tyley, college principal, is delighted with the final product.

He said: “With this investment we have transformed the Walford sports complex into a fantastic facility, which feels like a new-build from the inside.

“We are attracting more and more students to our sports programmes and these facilities will allow us to make maximum use of the extensive facilities we have on campus.

“During the construction phase, staff and students have been very understanding and their patience has been amply rewarded.”

Knockin-based Paveaways Ltd were main contractors for the project, supervised by Baart Harries Newall, the same design team responsible for the award-winning Harris Centre and newly opened Caradoc Halls of Residence.

The project was financed by the Skills Funding Agency.
