THE jury in the trial of a man and woman charged with rape is to consider its verdicts tomorrow.

Hairdresser Paul Kershaw, 34, of Claypit Manor, Claypit Lane, Rowton, Chester, and co-defendant Lisa Rodda, 40, of Sidmouth Road, Ashton upon Mersey, near Sale, both deny rape and digital penetration.

Simon Mills, prosecuting, claims the two defendants, uninhibited by alcohol, used the complainant as a sexual plaything after they returned to a house in the
Hawarden area after a night out in Chester on race-night.

Rodda is alleged to have held the woman in a bedroom while Kershaw sexually assaulted her.

It is alleged that Rodda later held the complainant on a sofa in the lounge while Kershaw raped her.

Kershaw accepts he sexually touched the complainant while in the bedroom and later had sex with her in the lounge but says it was all with consent.

Rodda, who had sex with Kershaw that night in various rooms in the house, in the garden and on the trampoline, denies holding the complainant down at any stage.

Rodda also told the jury she was not even in the room when Kershaw and the complainant had sex.

Jonathan Duffy, for Kershaw, said it was not a court of morals and said for some reason the complainant had fabricated the allegations.

After listening to closing speeches at Mold Crown Court yesterday the judge said the court was not sitting on Tuesday

He said he would sum the case up on Wednesday morning and would then ask the jury to retire to consider its verdicts at about lunchtime.

Proceeding.
