FINE: Ian Rush

EX-WALES international and Liverpool legend Ian Rush has been fined £600 after he was charged with speeding.

The goal ace also had six penalty points put on his licence for failing to provide information about who was driving the car.

He was stopped in February travelling faster than the 30mph limit on the A56 Hoole Road in Chester.

Rush, 52, of King’s Drive, Caldy, Wirral, did not attend a hearing in Warrington Magistrates Court and the case was proven in his absence.

Rush, who grew up in Flint and played for and managed Chester City, was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £65.

Rush was born in St Asaph.

He scored 346 for Liverpool FC during stints in 1980 to 1987 and 1988 to 1996. He is the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Rush also played at Chester City, Juventus, Leeds United, Newcastle United, Sheffield United, Wrexham and Sydney Olympic.

He also has 73 Welsh caps and is the country’s top goalscorer, with 28 goals.

He also managed Chester City in 2004 and 2005.
