RESIDENTS were in “disbelief” after a car crashed through a garden wall and landed on its roof.

A man in his 20s suffered minor injuries in the crash which happened on Oak Villas in Leeswood near the Prince of Wales pub yesterday.

Witnesses said garden walls were knocked down and bricks and glass littered the usually quiet street.

Linda Humphries, 52, who has lived in her home at Oak Villas for seven years, spoke to the Leader just an hour after the incident.

She said: “I was upstairs and heard an almighty bang.

“My dogs were going absolutely ballistic.

“I came down and went out into the street. The car was on its roof and was resting on top of another vehicle. I was in disbelief.

“Garden walls are down and bricks and glass are everywhere and one of the big stone gateposts has been completely removed.”

She said just before the car somersaulted it had clipped the door frame of her house and almost went straight through the porch.

“It’s frightening to think what could have happened if anyone had been waiting at the bus stop,” she said.

“Fortunately the bus had just gone but I dread to think what could have happened if there had been children or people in the street.

“There’s just utter disbelief at what’s happened.”

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said yesterday: “We were called at 3.40pm today to a traffic collision in the Leeswood area.

“We attended with an emergency ambulance and a male in his mid-20s, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital with what are understood to be minor injuries.”

A police spokesman said they were called to the collision and found a silver Hyundai on its roof.

“Ambulance and fire service also attended but nobody was trapped inside the vehicle and nobody is believed to be seriously injured.

“The car is understood to have gone through a fence and hit a garden wall.”

He added the incident caused some disruption to traffic.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact North Wales Police on 101 quoting reference R135174.
