Woman arrested after early morning house fire

A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of arson after an early morning fire gutted the ground floor of a house.

Two children were taken to hospital after the blaze in Wynn Avenue, Ruabon.

Firefighters were called to the scene shortly after 5am today.

There was one adult and two children in the house at the time of the fire.

A police spokesman said a local woman in her 30’s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and conveyed to a local police station.

The two children suffered slight smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital for treatment.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is being carried out jointly by North Wales Police and the fire service.

Crews from Wrexham and Johnstown attended the scene.
