A STRAY dog who was adopted by kind-hearted animal lovers on a holiday to Greece will be guest of honour at a Wrexham show.

Ghost, an Israeli Canaan dog, has been adopted by Jane and Pete Hardcastle, of Aintree in Liverpool, after they fell in love with her on holiday in Rhodes last month.

The couple spent about £1,000 in vaccinations and other fees in getting her over to the UK.

And now Ghost will be making an appearance at a charity dog show in Brymbo later this month.

Nicola Millar, of Llay, was at the same hotel as the Hardcastles when Ghost showed up just two days into her holiday.

Nicola, 43, said Ghost was underweight and dehydrated when she turned up.

She said: “Ghost stole all our hearts. She is a very distinctive-looking dog and she is quite something to look at.

“She saved two little kittens from falling into the hotel swimming pool by carrying them to safety.

“It took over the whole holiday. I hired a car to take the couple to the vets to get her injections done and the vet said she might even be in the early stages of pregnancy.”

After having to wait the required time after her vaccinations, Ghost finally arrived in the UK in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Nicola, who volunteers at Wrexham’s not-for-profit animal welfare group the Horse and Owner Help Centre, added: “It’s usually horses that I am rescuing and not from abroad, but there was something special about this dog.”

The show takes place at Rhos Y Coed Farm, Brymbo, on Sunday, August 31 between 11am and 3pm.
