PROPERTIES owned by a university are set to go under the hammer with the hope of swelling coffers by more than £1 million.
Glyndwr University is selling off seven properties across Wrexham, with the lots being auctioned off by Pugh Auctions in Liverpool next month.
Among the properties up for grabs is Clwyd House on Bryn Estyn Lane, which is expected to fetch about £200,000 when it goes up for sale.
The former student halls, now vacant, has 17-bedrooms with communal kitchens, bathrooms and a lounge, according to the sales specifications.
The listing for the property said it is considered to have development potential subject to obtaining any necessary planning permission.
The Hostel on Bath Road, a vacant three-storey former student accommodation site comprising 16 bedrooms with shared kitchens and bathrooms, is also up for grabs.
It is hoped the property will sell for between £150,000 to £160,000.
And a further four properties on Grosvenor Gardens are also available.
The three-storey, five-bedroom terraced houses are expected to sell for between £150,000 to £160,000 each.
Finally, a two bedroom apartment in Regent Street is listed at £105,000.
If all the properties sold at their guide price, the university would bag a total of £1.075 million from the sales
All the properties will be available at the auction to be held at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool on September 10, with proceedings set to begin at 2pm.
A Glyndwr University spokesman said: “The properties have been for sale for some time.
“The University has new, more modern accommodation for students and no longer has use for these buildings.”
