A TEENAGE daredevil has caused yet another stir by scaling an iconic building.

Jack Bellis, 17, from Wrexham, subsequently uploaded a video on YouTube, which shows him scaling Chester Cathedral.

The footage reveals the fearless youngster using scaffolding at the 120ft-tall cathedral to reach the top.

And this is not the first time Jack’s eccentric hobby has caught the eye.

He gained local and national notoriety in September last year when he scaled the Foryd Bridge in Rhyl, saying he had climbed the structure to take in the view.

The 17-year-old is part of the ‘Parkour Movement’ which is derived from a holistic training discipline, using movement developed from military obstacle course training.

Jack has jumped from rooftops, scaled road bridges, somersaulted off furniture and climb road bridges.

In May, Jack created a video to demonstrate his ‘free-running’ skills to create further awareness of the activity.

Speaking to the Leader, Jack defended his decision to scale the Chester landmark on Tuesday.

He said: “The video wasn’t really all that planned if I’m honest.

“I’d been collecting clips from my Gopro camera from some of the climbs I’ve been doing for a while, but with having so much footage I found a song which I thought would fit and edited them together.

“I did enjoy making the video. It’s one of the things that does come with Parkour really – knowing how to film and edit a video together.

“I would do it again. I don’t have any climbs or footage I have planned to film, as most of the stuff is just filmed at the time but with it being summer now I’m sure I’ll film quite a bit.”

Jack’s latest footage has met with positive reviews online, with one poster, James Dickson, saying “awesome dude, great stuff” and Ash Evsy adding “I enjoyed that. Some nice looking spots in there too”.

Is praising a kid for climbing scaffolding onto roof's a very responsible thing to do? We did things like this when we were kids.. but it was called trespassing.
