AS WREXHAM FC’s season kicked off, the Leader’s beach towel competition drew to a close.

For months diehard Reds fans have been sending in their holiday pictures snapped with their 150th anniversary towels in far-flung destinations from Barbados to Australia.

The competition deadline passed on Saturday and the final entries will be rounded up in today’s and tomorrow’s papers before the winner is announced.

Entries have flooded in to the competition, with a lucky winner – to be announced this week – in line to receive a current Reds team shirt as the prize.

Below is a snapshot of all of the entries to the competition.

Wrexham FC commercial manager Steve Cook said the club had been inundated with requests for new towels.

A new supplier has been sourced in Turkey, with the towels currently winging their way to the UK.

He said: “It has been great publicity. The towels have been fantastic – so much so that we’re trying to source a new supplier.

“For the first order I ordered 500 towels, which is quite a hefty stock. But that hasn’t been enough.”

The towels are currently out of stock in the Leader office in High Street, Wrexham but a fresh delivery is expected some time next week.
