A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy has had his long-blond hair cut off for charity.

James Ross, of Connah’s Quay, whose blond hair was down to his waist and had not been cut for years, had it cut short yesterday at Lady Jane’s Hair and Skin Clinic on Fron Road, Connah’s Quay.

He will now donate his cut-off hair to the Little Princess Trust to help make wigs for children who have suffered hair loss during cancer treatment.

Golftyn Primary School pupil James had been growing his hair since the age of four and was yesterday struggling to come to terms with his new look.

His mum Bernice Ross said: “He’s not really liking it so much at the minute. He keeps saying it looks weird.

“It is going to be something that takes time.

“He is worried his friends won’t recognise him.”

Despite his uncertainties James plans to grow it again and use his hair to raise money for charity when he leaves primary school and do the same when he goes to high school.

“I was shell-shocked to see him with short hair,” she said.

“I’m so proud of him for doing it.”

Ahead of the drastic restyle, James said he wanted to donate his hair so that someone else could look beautiful with all his hair.

James’ haircut has raised more than £450 in donations for the Little Princess Trust charity, with more money still to come in.

He is hoping to raise £2,000 in total – the cost of making a wig for a child.
