AN angry motorist said temporary repairs to “divots” in a road almost caused him to crash his car.

Christopher Williams said surface problems on Cross Roads, Holywell, which have been temporarily filled with tarmac, almost caused him to have an accident.

The 62-year-old, of Victoria Road, Bagillt said unless something was done, it would only be a matter of time before the measures caused an accident.

He said: “There are no real repairs being carried out. It looks like there is subsidence on the road.

“I wouldn’t like to go through on a push bike or motorbike,” he said.

Mr Williams said the first time he drove along the road, his car lost control and he ended up on the other side of the carriageway.

He said: “I went all over the road and it threw me to the right hand side of the lane.

“It could have been a lot worse if there was a car coming the other way.

“If you lose control and there is a car behind you, you can’t just break,

“If there is a vehicle coming the other way, you can’t swerve out of the way of it... Someone’s going to have an accident there.”

Mr Williams, who works for a logistics company, said he has informed Flintshire Council three times of his concerns about the road.

He said: “There are no roadworks and they have been trying to fill it in temporarily but if something big comes along – and it is a bus route – it just lifts the tarmac out.

“I would say it is definitely dangerous.”

Steve Jones, Flintshire’s chief officer for Streetscene and transportation, said: “A depression has appeared in the carriageway at Crossroads, Holywell.

“The area has been temporarily filled with tarmac and made safe and it is being monitored until a permanent reinstatement can be carried out in the coming weeks.”
